Team Info
Gabon is the senior men's national basketball team of Gabon, competing in the FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers and Central African regional tournaments. The team is based in Libreville, playing its home games at the Palais des Sports. Founded to represent the nation in international sport, the team's colors are green, yellow, and blue, mirroring the national flag. The team's history has seen periods of competitiveness in the zone, though consistent success on the continental stage has been elusive. A peak moment was a surprising victory over a higher-ranked opponent during an AfroBasket qualification campaign. The modern squad relies on a mix of local talent and a few professionals based abroad, emphasizing physical play in the paint. Fan support is passionate, particularly during home qualifiers. Gabon continues to work towards establishing a more prominent role in African basketball.
