Glint Korfez Basket edged out Petkim Spor 91-90 in a pulsating Basketbol Super Ligi clash at the Petkim Spor Arena, snatching a one-point road win that will be remembered as one of the most dramatic finishes of the early-season schedule. The visitors survived a chaotic final possession, a missed free throw and a last-second contested jumper to leave Izmir with a result that reshapes the early look of the standings.

A Game That Refused to Be Settled

Neither side managed to build a cushion beyond single digits at any point in the second half, and the lead changed hands eleven times across the four quarters. Petkim Spor looked the more settled team in the opening ten minutes, moving the ball crisply and finding open shooters on the perimeter, but Glint Korfez answered with a shooting burst before the interval that turned a five-point deficit into a half-time advantage.

The home crowd sensed a response after the break, and it arrived through defensive pressure and second-chance points. Petkim reclaimed control in the third period, only for the visitors to steady themselves in the closing minutes with patient half-court execution and a pair of timely offensive rebounds.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Petkim Spor 24-22 Glint Korfez Basket — a fast, open start with both teams shooting well from beyond the arc.
• Second quarter: Petkim Spor 21-28 — the visitors' best stretch, built on transition scoring and three-point shooting.
• Third quarter: Petkim Spor 25-19 — the hosts flipped the momentum with aggressive on-ball defence.
• Fourth quarter: Petkim Spor 20-22 — a nervy, foul-heavy finish decided in the final seconds.

Key Moments

The decisive sequence came inside the last 40 seconds. Trailing by one, Petkim Spor forced a turnover near midcourt and had a clear path to the rim, but the layup rolled out. Glint Korfez converted one of two free throws at the other end to push the margin to two, and Petkim's last meaningful attempt — a well-defended three from the wing — rattled in and out as the buzzer sounded.

It was a finish that underlined how thin the margins are in Turkey's top basketball division, where a single possession routinely separates a winning road trip from a frustrating home defeat.

Tactical Story of the Night

Glint Korfez Basket won this game from the arc and at the free-throw line. Their ball movement against Petkim's switching defence created open looks from the corners, and their guards repeatedly attacked closeouts rather than settling for early shots. Petkim, by contrast, did their best work inside, dominating the offensive glass and generating second-chance points that kept them in front for long stretches.

The difference ultimately came down to late-game composure. The visitors committed fewer turnovers in the fourth quarter and were more disciplined about fouling, while Petkim gave away three crucial possessions in the final three minutes with rushed decisions.

Standout Performers

• Petkim Spor: A dominant interior performance anchored the offence, complemented by a guard who carried the scoring load in the third quarter and finished among the game's leading scorers.
• Glint Korfez Basket: The backcourt dictated tempo all evening, and the team's leading scorer delivered in the clutch with the game on the line.

What It Means for the Standings

For Glint Korfez Basket, this is the kind of road win that builds belief — a one-point victory against a playoff-calibre opponent on their own floor. It strengthens their position in the upper half of the Basketbol Super Ligi standings and gives them a valuable head-to-head advantage should tiebreakers matter later in the season.

Petkim Spor, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a game they controlled for long periods without closing out. The defeat is a reminder that in a league as deep as this one, execution in the final two minutes matters more than anything that happens before it.
