Cayirova Belediyesi 76-84 Bahcesehir Koleji: Visitors Edge Hard-Fought Super Ligi Road Battle

Bahcesehir Koleji secured an 84-76 road victory over Cayirova Belediyesi on Sunday evening in the Basketbol Super Ligi, grinding out a result that was built on a strong first half and protected with poise in the closing minutes. The eight-point margin understates the intensity of a contest that was decided in the final three minutes.

Match Overview

• League: Basketbol Super Ligi
• Final score: Cayirova Belediyesi 76 – 84 Bahcesehir Koleji
• Date and tip-off: 4 October 2026, 18:00 local time
• Quarter breakdown: 20-24, 18-22, 21-19, 19-19

Bahcesehir never trailed after the opening five minutes. A disciplined first half gave them a 46-38 cushion at the break, and although Cayirova Belediyesi clawed their way back into the contest in the third quarter, the visitors found the decisive baskets whenever the pressure peaked.

How the Game Unfolded

The opening quarter was a shootout, with both sides finding rhythm early. Bahcesehir's ball movement was sharper, producing open looks from the corners, and they closed the period 24-20 ahead. Cayirova stayed within touching distance thanks to assertive drives and a willingness to attack the offensive glass.

The second quarter proved the difference in the game. Bahcesehir's defensive intensity lifted, and a stretch of nearly four scoreless minutes from the hosts allowed the visitors to extend their lead. A well-executed set play in the final seconds of the half sent Bahcesehir into the locker room with an eight-point advantage.

Cayirova responded impressively after the interval. Their guards began breaking down the first line of defence, drawing help and kicking out to shooters, and a 10-2 run midway through the third quarter cut the deficit to a single possession. But Bahcesehir answered with a short burst of their own to lead 65-59 going into the fourth.

Key Moments

• First quarter, 3:20 remaining: Two corner three-pointers in quick succession give Bahcesehir the first meaningful cushion.
• Second quarter, 4:40 remaining: Cayirova go scoreless for nearly four minutes, allowing the visitors to pull away.
• Third quarter, 5:10 remaining: A 10-2 Cayirova run brings the home crowd to life and trims the gap to three.
• Fourth quarter, 1:50 remaining: Bahcesehir convert a contested mid-range jumper and then force a turnover to close the door.

Tactical Story

Bahcesehir's win was grounded in defensive discipline. They limited Cayirova's transition opportunities, kept the ball out of the paint in the half court and forced the hosts into long, low-percentage attempts late in possessions. Their rebounding on the defensive end was particularly impressive, denying second-chance points during the crucial third-quarter stretch.

Cayirova Belediyesi will take encouragement from their resilience. They competed on the boards, generated turnovers and produced a genuine push in the second half, but their perimeter shooting let them down at the worst possible moments. Converting just a couple of the open looks they created in the fourth quarter would have changed the complexion of the finish.

Standout Performers

Tyler Hawkins led Bahcesehir Koleji with 21 points and eight rebounds, dominating stretches of the second and fourth quarters. Kerem Alp added 15 points and controlled the game's tempo from the point, while the visiting bench delivered steady, mistake-free minutes that proved important in a tight contest.

For Cayirova Belediyesi, Marcus Whitfield was the standout with 23 points, repeatedly attacking the rim when his team needed a spark. Emre Dolunay contributed 14 points and battled hard inside, though foul trouble limited his impact during the decisive final period.

Season and Standings Impact

The result keeps Bahcesehir Koleji on track in the upper reaches of the Basketbol Super Ligi table, reinforcing their credentials as a side capable of competing deep into the season. Winning away from home against determined opposition is often the marker of a team with genuine ambitions, and this performance fits that description.

Cayirova Belediyesi remain competitive but will rue a night when their shooting touch deserted them in key moments. Their home form will be central to their campaign, and the encouraging elements of this display — the rebounding, the fight in the third quarter — offer a platform to build on in the coming fixtures.
