IsraelPlayer Info
TJ Leaf’s career has transitioned from a first-round NBA draft pick to a key role with one of Europe’s most storied clubs, Maccabi Tel Aviv. The 28-year-old power forward from El Cajon, California, was selected 18th overall by the Indiana Pacers in 2017 after a productive freshman year at UCLA. His NBA stint showed flashes of his scoring touch and perimeter shooting for a big man, but he found a more consistent and prominent role after moving overseas. With Maccabi Tel Aviv, Leaf has thrived in the Israeli Premier League and EuroLeague, utilizing his skilled offensive game, mobility, and rebounding to become a reliable frontcourt option. Competing for one of the continent’s perennial contenders has allowed him to play in high-pressure games and contend for titles, a experience that has rounded out his game. While his NBA tenure was brief, Leaf has successfully reinvented himself as a valuable stretch-four in Europe, demonstrating the adaptability required for a long professional career and contributing to Maccabi’s winning tradition.
