Liaoning Flying Leopards Edge Guangzhou Loong Lions 100-93 in CBA Battle

Liaoning Flying Leopards secured a hard-fought 100-93 victory over Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association on November 3, 2026. The game was tight for long stretches, but Liaoning’s fourth-quarter execution and offensive rebounding proved the difference in a seven-point win.

Match Overview

Liaoning took a 25-22 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 52-46 by halftime. Guangzhou stayed within striking distance through the third quarter, winning that period 25-23 to cut the deficit to four. The final quarter remained tense until Liaoning used a late 9-2 run to create breathing room.

The game featured contrasting styles: Liaoning’s methodical half-court attack against Guangzhou’s aggressive transition game. In the end, Liaoning’s composure in the closing minutes and their advantage on the offensive glass decided the outcome.

How the Game Turned

With just under five minutes remaining and Liaoning leading 89-86, the home side produced the decisive sequence. A contested offensive rebound led to a second-chance three-pointer, followed by a defensive stop and a fast-break dunk. That five-point swing forced Guangzhou to call timeout, but Liaoning maintained control from there.

Guangzhou had chances to close the gap, but two missed free throws and a turnover in the final two minutes stalled their comeback. Liaoning’s guards then iced the game at the charity stripe.

Standout Performances

• Liaoning’s lead guard finished with 26 points and 8 assists, guiding the offense through a tense fourth quarter.
• Liaoning’s power forward posted 22 points and 10 rebounds, including four offensive boards.
• Guangzhou’s import guard led all scorers with 29 points, adding 5 assists and 4 steals.
• Guangzhou’s center contributed 18 points and 12 rebounds but was limited by foul trouble late.

Tactical Story

Liaoning’s half-court offense relied on patient ball movement and interior touches. They repeatedly attacked Guangzhou’s switching defense through post-ups and backdoor cuts, generating high-percentage looks. Their offensive rebounding was particularly damaging, extending possessions and creating second-chance points.

Guangzhou preferred a faster pace, using guard penetration to collapse the defense and kick out to shooters. That approach kept them close, but Liaoning’s ability to control the defensive glass limited their transition opportunities in the final quarter.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Liaoning’s position in the CBA standings and provides momentum in what is always a demanding regular season. For Guangzhou, the loss is a narrow setback, but the performance showed they can compete with one of the league’s established powers. The head-to-head result could matter in tiebreakers later in the campaign.

Liaoning will look to tighten their late-game free-throw shooting, while Guangzhou must improve their rebounding against physical frontcourts.
