Pallacanestro Varese secured a 50-44 road win over Tezenis Verona in Lega Basket Serie A on Sunday, November 1, 2026. A decisive third-quarter run and a disciplined defensive performance allowed Varese to control the second half and close out a low-scoring contest.

Match overview

The first half was a tight, physical battle. Varese led 12-10 after the opening quarter, but Verona responded to take a 23-21 advantage into halftime. The game turned in the third period, when Varese held Verona to nine points and outscored the home side 17-9 to build a 32-38 lead. Verona fought to stay within reach in the fourth, but Varese’s defense and timely shot-making kept them at arm’s length.

The final score of 50-44 underlined the defensive nature of the game. Both teams struggled from the perimeter, and points in the paint were difficult to find against compact half-court defenses.

Key moments

• Varese’s 17-9 third quarter created the separation that ultimately decided the game.
• Verona cut the deficit to four points early in the fourth, but Varese answered with a three-pointer and a transition layup.
• Varese made key free throws in the final minute to seal the road victory.

Tactical story

Varese’s defense was the story. The visitors contested every catch and forced Verona into difficult contested jumpers. Their help-side rotations were sharp, and they limited second-chance points by controlling the defensive glass. On offense, Varese moved the ball patiently and attacked mismatches inside the arc rather than settling for early three-point attempts.

Verona’s offense never found a consistent rhythm. The home side had good stretches defensively, but poor shooting in the third quarter allowed Varese to take control. Verona’s late push was built on increased pressure, but Varese handled the ball well enough to avoid a costly turnover spree.

Standout performers

Varese’s backcourt controlled the tempo and made several important plays in the second half. The visitors also received strong interior defense and rebounding from their frontcourt. For Verona, the effort on the defensive end was solid, but the team needed more production from its perimeter players to break Varese’s packed defense.

Season impact

The 50-44 win gives Pallacanestro Varese an important road result in Lega Basket Serie A and highlights their ability to win games when the offense is not at its best. Tezenis Verona will be frustrated by the third-quarter drought, but the team’s defensive competitiveness kept the game within reach until the final minutes.
