Match Info
Japan Women dethroned China Women with a stunning 90-81 victory in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup semifinals on July 19, 2025. In a classic showdown, Japan's guard play and clutch shooting overcame China's size advantage, sending the defending champions to the final. The game was an intense battle of styles, with China dominating the interior and Japan relying on speed and perimeter scoring. Japan trailed for much of the first three quarters but never let the deficit grow large. In the fourth quarter, Japan's defensive pressure intensified, forcing key turnovers that fueled a decisive run. Their guards took over, hitting a series of difficult shots while their defense successfully limited China's second-chance opportunities. The nine-point upset victory was a masterpiece of tactical execution under pressure and set up a dream final against Australia.
