Key Moments

The game’s turning point came midway through the second quarter, when Valmiera went on a 15-4 run that stretched their lead to 19 points. That stretch featured three-pointers from the wings, a pair of fast-break layups, and a thunderous dunk that brought the home crowd to its feet.

BK Ventspils briefly threatened early in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 13, but Valmiera responded with a 10-0 burst of their own. From there, the outcome was never in doubt. Valmiera’s bench also contributed valuable minutes, helping maintain the lead through the final period.

Tactical Story

Valmiera’s offensive approach was built on ball movement and spacing. The guards consistently broke down their defenders off the dribble, then kicked out to open shooters or found big men rolling to the rim. The team shot well from beyond the arc and also dominated points in the paint, making them nearly impossible to guard.

Defensively, Valmiera focused on containing BK Ventspils’ primary scorers and forcing secondary playmakers to beat them. The plan worked, as Ventspils shot under 40% from the field and committed 16 turnovers. Valmiera also controlled the glass, finishing with a double-digit rebounding advantage that limited second-chance points.
