The Ryukyu Golden Kings started their East Asia Super League season with a solid 81-72 win over the Meralco Bolts of the Philippines on October 22, 2025. The Japanese champions used their trademark disciplined defense and efficient offense to overcome a gritty Bolts team in Okinawa. Ryukyu established control of the paint early, limiting Meralco's second-chance points while finding good looks from the perimeter. Although the Bolts stayed within striking distance for much of the game, the Golden Kings' experience in international play showed in the final minutes as they executed their sets flawlessly to close out the victory. This opening win puts Ryukyu in a strong position in their EASL group as they pursue continental glory.
