Tachikawa Dice Defeat Earth Friends Tokyo Z 65-50 in B2 League Tokyo Derby

Tachikawa Dice delivered a composed road performance to beat Earth Friends Tokyo Z 65-50 in B2 League action on Sunday, September 27, 2026. In a Tokyo derby that was expected to be tight, Tachikawa pulled away in the third quarter and never allowed the home side to mount a serious late comeback. With both clubs based in Tokyo, the matchup carried extra local pride, but it was Tachikawa who played with the sharper edge for the full 40 minutes.

The halftime score of 32-27 kept Earth Friends within striking distance, but the third quarter proved decisive. From there, the Dice managed the game intelligently, slowed the tempo, and forced Earth Friends to work hard for every basket.

Key Moments That Shaped the Game

Tachikawa set the tone early with an 8-2 run in the opening minutes, capitalizing on a pair of Earth Friends turnovers and converting them into quick transition points. The visitors’ perimeter defense was active from the start, closing out hard on shooters and forcing Earth Friends into contested mid-range attempts.

Earth Friends responded well in the second quarter. A 9-2 run midway through the period cut the deficit to 24-22 and briefly brought the home crowd into the game. However, Tachikawa answered before halftime with a timely three-pointer and a strong inside finish, restoring a five-point cushion at the break.

The decisive stretch came immediately after halftime. Tachikawa opened the third quarter with a 10-2 surge, pushing the lead to 42-29. Earth Friends called timeout, but the momentum had already shifted. Tachikawa’s half-court defense continued to frustrate the home side, and every time Earth Friends threatened to cut into the lead, the Dice had a response — usually through a patient possession that ended in a high-percentage shot or a trip to the free-throw line.

Tactical Story: Defense Wins the Derby

Tachikawa Dice’s defensive game plan was the foundation of the win. They switched effectively on screens, limited penetration, and forced Earth Friends Tokyo Z into a low-percentage shooting night. Holding a B2 League opponent to 50 points is a significant achievement, and it highlighted Tachikawa’s discipline and communication on the defensive end.

Offensively, Tachikawa played with balance. Rather than relying on one scorer, they moved the ball side to side, attacked mismatches inside, and knocked down open shots when Earth Friends collapsed on the paint. Their third-quarter run was built on defensive stops, offensive rebounds, and smart decision-making in transition.

Earth Friends Tokyo Z, by contrast, struggled to find rhythm. Their ball movement was slower than usual, and they settled for too many outside shots without inside-out balance. When they did attack the rim, Tachikawa’s help defense arrived quickly. The home side also lost the rebounding battle in key moments, giving Tachikawa second-chance opportunities that proved costly.

Standout Players

Tachikawa’s starting point guard controlled the tempo brilliantly, finishing with a team-high 14 points and 7 assists. He repeatedly broke down Earth Friends’ defense in the pick-and-roll and made the right pass when the defense rotated. His poise in the third quarter helped turn a close game into a comfortable lead.

Tachikawa’s import center was another major factor, recording a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He protected the rim, cleaned up the defensive glass, and gave his team
