Fenerbahçe Beko edge Olimpia Milano in a thrilling Club Friendship classic

Fenerbahçe Beko Istanbul began their 2026-27 preparations in style, edging past Olimpia Milano 81-79 in a tightly contested Club Friendship encounter on September 6, 2026. The two European powerhouses delivered a preseason spectacle that felt more like a playoff battle, with Fenerbahçe snatching the decisive points in the closing seconds after a wild back-and-forth finale.

The match, part of a broader series of international club friendlies, gave both coaching staffs a valuable opportunity to test rotations and high-pressure execution. Olimpia Milano showcased their trademark defensive intensity at home, but it was Fenerbahçe’s composure down the stretch that proved the difference in a game that featured seven lead changes in the fourth quarter alone.

How the win unfolded

Fenerbahçe set the early tone behind sharp perimeter shooting and strong ball movement, taking a narrow first-quarter edge. Milano responded through aggressive drives to the rim, and by halftime the Turkish side’s lead had been trimmed to just a single possession. The third quarter saw Milano briefly grab the advantage, as their bench unit provided an energetic spark and forced several Fenerbahçe turnovers.

The final period was a study in crunch-time execution. Both sides traded baskets, with Olimpia Milano hitting a clutch three-pointer to tie the game at 79 with under 20 seconds remaining. But Fenerbahçe calmly advanced the ball, found their leading scorer in the mid-range area, and converted a well-executed step-back jumper to regain the lead. A last-second Milano heave clanged off the rim, allowing Fenerbahçe Beko to celebrate a gutsy away win.
